Biggersville Volunteer Fire Department was officially founded on March 25, 1980 when a group of community members gathered at Biggersville Schools to discuss the creation of a fire department to serve the community. On April 8, 1980, a commissioned board of directors including Billy Brawner, Martin Huggins, Leland Harris, James Yancey, and Tony Morton, met and Chief Bill Bagwell stepped into the role as our first Chief.

Our motto and patch explains that volunteering to serve your community with like-minded people can quickly become a "family" . The motto "Our Family Protecting Yours" became an uncomplicated way to express the purpose for what we do and why we do it. Today, this simple phrase is as true as ever.
